Contemporary brick-built homes with solar panels at Wessex Close in Ilford

Aspen Build successfully delivered Wessex Close, transforming two previously underused garage sites into high-quality new homes for the local community. The development demonstrates Aspen Build’s expertise in maximising challenging spaces and delivering well-designed residential schemes that provide long-term value.

The project comprised the construction of two blocks, each containing three three-bedroom houses built using traditional masonry construction methods. Despite the challenges of working within a constrained urban setting, Aspen Build successfully completed the scheme on programme, with all homes handed over on time, snag free, and ready for residents to move straight in.

Due to the restricted nature of the site, careful planning and coordination were essential throughout the build. The plots occupied approximately 80% of the available area, leaving limited space for material storage and site operations. Detailed delivery planning and efficient logistics management ensured construction progressed smoothly while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

Working within an established residential area also required careful consideration to minimise disruption to neighbouring properties. Aspen Build’s experienced team managed the works with a considerate approach, maintaining strong communication and ensuring the project was delivered efficiently while respecting the surrounding community.

Security and quality were key priorities throughout the development, with the scheme achieving a Secured by Design Silver Award. This recognition reflects the careful consideration given to creating safe, secure and welcoming homes for residents.

The successful completion of Wessex Close highlights Aspen Build’s ability to deliver exceptional results on complex and space-restricted sites. Led by Ross Simpson, James Doubleday, Chris Balls and Steve Hart, the project team worked collaboratively to transform two former garage sites into six high-quality family homes, delivered on time and ready for their new residents.
