Wamil Court
This project involved the extensive refurbishment and redevelopment of a former redundant care home, transforming the existing structure into 30 high-quality new homes. The scheme required a sensitive approach to adapting the original building while delivering modern residential accommodation designed to meet the needs of future residents.
A key element of the project was the structural adaptation of the existing building, including the removal and replacement of the original roof structure to allow for the creation of new living spaces. A fully redesigned roof system was installed, incorporating new roof trusses, coverings, and associated works to ensure long-term durability, performance, and compliance with modern standards.
The completed development includes carefully considered internal layouts and high-quality finishes throughout. Each home benefits from fitted kitchens, durable LVT flooring throughout the main living areas, and carpets installed to every bedroom, creating comfortable and practical spaces ready for occupation.
Heating and energy efficiency were also key considerations, with new combi boilers installed throughout the development to provide reliable and efficient heating and hot water systems for residents. Additional roof improvements included minor flat roof works and the installation of Velux roof lights, enhancing natural light and improving the overall quality of the internal spaces.
Key features
Externally, the scheme was designed to create a welcoming and practical environment for residents. Each home benefits from its own allocated parking space, while secure communal courtyards provide shared green spaces for residents to enjoy. Cycle storage facilities were also incorporated to encourage sustainable transport options.
As part of the project's commitment to supporting greener living, three electric vehicle charging points were installed and fully commissioned, providing future-ready infrastructure for residents and contributing towards more sustainable transport solutions.
Delivered by the project team of Gary Rush, Gordon Betts, Richard Julings and Jake Betts, the completed development demonstrates our ability to successfully transform challenging existing buildings into high-quality residential schemes, combining thoughtful design, modern construction standards, and long-term value for the community.
