This summer, Aspen Build welcomed Jimmy and Lexie for work experience, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the construction industry and explore potential career paths.

At Aspen Build, we’re proud to support young people as they explore their future careers and gain an understanding of the opportunities available within construction.

Jimmy spent two weeks with our team at our Bacton site in Norfolk, gaining hands-on experience and an insight into life on a live construction project. Throughout his time with us, Jimmy demonstrated a fantastic attitude and a strong willingness to learn. He wasn’t afraid to get stuck into new tasks, quickly picked up new skills and worked safely alongside the team.

It was great to see Jimmy’s confidence grow throughout his placement. He proved himself to be reliable, hardworking and eager to learn, making the most of every opportunity to get involved and experience life on site.

Lexie joined us during her summer break with an interest in Quantity Surveying, keen to gain an insight into the commercial side of construction and explore what a career in the industry could look like.

During her placement, Lexie spent time alongside our Quantity Surveying team in the office, gaining an understanding of their day-to-day responsibilities, before heading out to our Claydon site to see how those responsibilities translate into a live project.

Having the opportunity to experience both the office and site environments gave Lexie a valuable insight into the variety of roles and responsibilities within the construction industry, as well as how different teams work together to deliver a project.

We’d like to thank both Jimmy and Lexie for their enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to get involved during their time with us.

Providing meaningful work experience is an important part of helping young people understand the opportunities available within our industry. Whether gaining hands-on experience on site or exploring the commercial side of a project, placements like these can help provide a valuable foundation for those considering a career in construction.
