The Whaddons, Buttsgrove
The site was previously redundant low efficiency bungalows and non-maintained open spaces. The first phase saw the demolition including asbestos removal of all buildings across the site.
The new development was completed in five phases to reduce the impact on the existing community during the two year build programme. Each phase saw around 10-15 properties released and occupied before the next phase was undertaken, the project team prioritised this phasing and community approach proactively throughout the project reaping the reward when the scheme was awarded a Bronze CCS award.
The Logistics of the project were also very challenging with the site covering 6 arches bordering a school and a main road The main road also needed to be narrowed in size and a new water main installed. This involved the project and design team working closely with local highways and water authorities to ensure the works were completed in a timely manner, causing the please inconvenience to local residents.
